Colombian pop star Shakira confirmed last week her romantic relationship with Spanish footballer Gerard Pique through a message on her Twitter account.

“I present to you my sunshine … Shak,” the 34-year-old singer wrote in the message accompanying the photo of the smiling pair.

Shakira and the 24-year-old Barcelona center-back became the focus of intense media attention earlier this month when gossip magazines published photographs of the couple holding hands and kissing in Barcelona.
The couple tried to keep their relationship secret during its early days.

In January, Shakira announced the end of her 11-year relationship with Antonio de la Rua of Argentina.

The Grammy-winner explained that she and Antonio had decided to “take time apart”. But hinted they could reconcile. The pop princess has also announced she is moving to Spain, but claims the relocation has nothing to do with her new man.

A source said: “Shakira has a sister who lives there and she already spends a lot of time there but is now planning on setting up her European base.”

She has rented a luxury villa on the outskirts of Barcelona from Spanish ex world long distance swimming champion David Meca, with an indefinite lease.
